My Sister, Patty, and I hung our Mom's 9/11 Quilt at the Livonia, Michigan Public Library/Civic Center
My cousin, Carol, approached the administrator at the Livonia Public Library/Civic Center about displaying my Mom's 9/11 Quilt in honor of those whose lives were touched by the tragedy 10 years ago. They welcomed the idea, so we flew back to Michigan last week to hang the Quilt. It will be displayed for the entire month of September. It is such an honor to be able to share Mom's quilt with the people of Michigan. It's hard to believe it has been 10 years. God Bless our Beautiful America. xoxo
Aww, what a lovely memorial
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Katy <3
ReplyDeleteJanice, your mum will be so happy to see that her children are sharing her amazing works with so many people. What an amazing thing that u guys have done for her (*^^*)
ReplyDeleteJanice, that is truly a beautiful quilt!! I wish I could see it in person--perhaps I can. My husband and I grew up in Livonia (although it wasn't as built up and it is now) and we'll be heading for Brighton, MI (where my parents now live) this Christmas. HMMM, may have to pop over to Livonia if it's still there.
ReplyDeleteHeaps of Hugs,
Cheryl
Thank you so much Esther and Cheryl! Esther, we felt Mom's presence while we were there! Cheryl, I grew up in Livonia, too - our family has lived there for over 50 years. The Quilt will be hanging through the month of September. The pictures do not do it justice at all. In person, it is truly breathtaking. My Mom was so gifted and we are hoping to be able to share her art as long as we are able. Again, I thank you for your sweet comments. I do appreciate them! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt, and what a nice way to remember your mom. Im sure she is looking down from heaven and smiling :).
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Heidi :O) I do feel she is smiling from Heaven! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThe most beautiful memorial quilt Janice. So touching. Thank you for sharing it with us and for sharing it with others. It is breathtakingly beautiful. Wish I had had the pleasure of meeting your dear mom Janice. Hugs xxxxx
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much for taking the time to peek in on it, Christine. My Mom would have loved you :O) xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am not generally a quilt person, but WOW! I would have loved to have seen more detailed photos of her work in this quilt (Im sure I can't get the full appreciation from this photo). You are right, your Mum was truly blessed by God with an amazing talent. I wanted to share with you how inspired I am by seeing this quilt. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Kaarin, for taking the time to comment, I appreciate your kind words. I found a better photo to post (though it is taken through glass at the library) it includes a bit more detail. xoxo
